Install the Beliv extension

Beliv isn't on the Chrome Web Store yet, so you'll load it manually. It takes about a minute — download the file, then follow the six steps below.

Installation

    Download and unzip
    Download beliv-extension.zipabove, then unzip it. You'll get a folder named beliv-extension — keep it somewhere permanent (e.g. Documents). Deleting or moving this folder removes the extension.

    Open your browser's extensions page
    In Chrome, Edge, or Brave, go to chrome://extensions (Edge: edge://extensions). You can copy that into the address bar.

    Turn on Developer mode
    Flip the Developer modeswitch in the top-right corner of the extensions page. This is what lets you load an extension that isn't from the store.

    Load unpacked
    Click Load unpacked (top-left) and select the unzipped beliv-extension folder — the one containing manifest.json. Beliv now appears in your extensions list. Click the puzzle-piece icon and pin it for easy access.

    Connect it to your account
    Open the Beliv popup, go to the Settings tab, and set the Backend URL to https://xbeliv.com and paste the API key you were given. Click Test connection— a green result means you're wired up. Add an AI personality if you like.

    Turn it on for a chat
    Open any web chat (WhatsApp Web, Instagram DMs, etc.), and click the "Click to enable beliv."pill. Beliv is off on every site until you enable it there. Follow the on-screen calibration if prompted, and you're running.
Keep the folder in place
An unpacked extension runs directly from the folder you selected. If you move it to the Recycle Bin or delete it, Beliv disappears from your browser. Put it somewhere you won't clean up by accident.
Common questions
Is loading it this way safe?
Yes. “Load unpacked” in Developer mode is the standard way developers and beta testers run extensions before they’re on the Chrome Web Store. You’re loading a folder you downloaded from us — no third party is involved.
Chrome shows a “Disable developer mode extensions” popup. Is something wrong?
No. Chrome shows that reminder on startup whenever any unpacked extension is installed. Just close it — clicking “Disable” would turn Beliv off. It goes away once Beliv is published to the store.
The beliv bubble didn't appear on a site. What do I do?
Click the Beliv toolbar icon and hit “Show beliv on this page.” Some sites block the bubble from loading on its own or hide it behind their own widgets; that button forces it open on the current tab and snaps it back to the corner. Make sure you’re on a normal https:// page (it can’t run on the browser’s own pages).
How do I update to a new version?
Download the new zip, unzip it over the old folder (replacing the files), then open chrome://extensions and click the refresh icon on the Beliv card. Your settings are kept.
Which browsers work?
Any Chromium browser: Google Chrome, Microsoft Edge, and Brave. It does not work in Firefox or Safari.
